Taiwan has 11 steel plants tracked in the Global Iron and Steel Tracker, with a combined crude steel capacity of about 24.7 million tonnes per year. 9 of them are electric arc furnace plants melting recycled scrap, alongside 2 integrated BF–BOF sites. The largest is China Steel Xiaogang, at about 10.0 million tonnes per year.
