Ural Steel Metallurgical operates a blast furnace that smelts iron ore into liquid hot metal. Steel is made in an electric arc furnace, which can be charged with hot metal alongside scrap. The liquid steel is solidified into semi-finished shapes by continuous casting. The plant has a crude steel capacity of about 2.0 million tonnes per year.
