Ukraine has 13 steel plants tracked in the Global Iron and Steel Tracker, with a combined crude steel capacity of about 35.1 million tonnes per year. 8 of them make steel by the integrated route, smelting ore in a blast furnace and refining it in a basic oxygen furnace, while 5 melt scrap in electric arc furnaces. The largest is Azovstal, at about 6.6 million tonnes per year.
