Uganda has 2 steel plants tracked in the Global Iron and Steel Tracker, with a combined crude steel capacity of about 1.6 million tonnes per year. 1 of them make steel by the integrated route, smelting ore in a blast furnace and refining it in a basic oxygen furnace. The largest is Devki Group Tororo, at about 1.0 million tonnes per year.
